Our History

GreatBlue’s roots trace back to 1979, when research was conducted through paper surveys, manual analysis, and a deep commitment to understanding public opinion.

The company began as The Center for Research and Public Policy in New Haven, at a time when research meant paper surveys, manual analysis, and a genuine commitment to understanding what people thought and why. The tools looked different then, but the philosophy was the same one we operate by today.

In 2010, Michael Vigeant took the helm, bringing with him a vision for what a modern, client-centered research firm could look like. Under his leadership, the organization separated formally and charted its own course, one defined by deeper client collaboration, sharper methodology, and a relentless focus on making research useful, not just accurate. Three years later, that evolution had a name. The rebrand to GreatBlue Research in 2013 was not just a new identity. It was a reflection of where the company had grown and where it was headed.

More than four decades after those first paper surveys, the technology has changed, the methods have expanded, and the industries we serve span the country. What has not changed is the commitment that started it all: helping organizations navigate complex challenges through research that is thoughtful, customized, and built to move them forward.
